Excluding energy burn, HoldFast is one of the world’s largest independent re-users of waste tyres. To date, HoldFast has re-used circa ten million waste tyres into all rubber platforms for level crossings in the UK and overseas, without requiring any virgin rubber. This was recently celebrated by Network Rail.

The HoldFast Rubber Highway is constructed from 100% recycled rubber and cold cure manufactured with low energy use.

An average of 354,000 tyres would be recycled in every one mile stretch of this rubber highway.

OTHER ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS
The Highway provides a series of safety and environmental benefits to road and rail users, in addition to cost benefits for highway and rail authorities.

A Maintenance Free Environment
The track bed and crossing itself is maintenance free and will survive weather and traffic forces for longer periods. This reduces the need for replacement - a further environmental advantage.

Reduced Road Congestion
Financial cost apart, road congestion has a considerable impact on the local environment. Traffic fumes; noise pollution; extended rail and road journeys with increased fuel consumption and pollution levels can be reduced.

Reduced Supply Chain
HoldFast has developed a management system to enable HRH to be delivered and off offloaded direct to track bed.

HoldFast was presented the coveted Network Rail Environment Award for 2002 in recognition of the positive environmental benefits of the HoldFast crossing system. These same benefits apply to HRH
